Meanwhile, he emphasized the friendship between India and Nepal. Speaking at a gathering in Imphal during his visit to Manipur, Modi mentioned Sushila Karki's swearing-in and also highlighted the historical and cultural ties with Nepal.

The Prime Minister said, “Today, from the sacred land of Manipur, I extend my best wishes to my colleagues in Nepal. Nepal is not just a neighbor, but a very close friend of India. Our relations are not limited by borders, but are nurtured by our shared traditions and beliefs.”

Congratulations to Nepal's first female Prime Minister

While congratulating Sushila Karki, Prime Minister Modi said, “On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I warmly welcome her on being elected as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal. I believe that under her leadership, Nepal will move towards peace, stability, and development.”

Meanwhile, Modi noted that her swearing-in as Prime Minister is a "living example of women's empowerment." He praised the democratic values of Nepal and the perseverance of its people, saying, "I salute the Nepali people who have kept the torch of democracy alive even in turbulent times."

Appreciation for the role of youth

In the backdrop of recent protests in Nepal, Modi specially appreciated the initiative of Nepali youth. "Painting roads, keeping the surroundings clean, is not just for beautification, but is part of a positive change. The new rise of Nepal is happening through the mindset of these young people," he said.

Political change and India's support

After the resignation of KP Sharma Oli, Sushila Karki was entrusted with the responsibility of interim Prime Minister. Her interim government has been tasked with preparing for the elections to be held on March 5 and restoring stability in the country.

The Government of India has responded positively to these developments and assured all necessary support to Nepal. Notably, Karki's appointment was made through direct online voting by the people, in which the Gen Z generation also participated.

Prime Minister's commentary on the instability in Manipur

In this speech, Prime Minister Modi also shed light on the current situation in Manipur. “All elements in the state should walk the path of peace. The Government of India is with you to fulfill your dreams and aspirations,” he stated, making it clear that the government is committed to the development of Manipur.
