President of India, Mrs. Droupadi Murmu, today (29 October 2025) took a historic flight in a Rafale fighter jet from the Ambala Air Force Base in Haryana. This is considered a proud and historic achievement for her as the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces. This flight is regarded as another significant accomplishment during President Murmu's tenure. She has become the first President of India and the first tribal woman President to take a flight in a Rafale fighter jet. Previously, on 8 April 2023, she took a flight in a Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet from the Tezpur Air Force Base in Assam. At that time, she became the third President and the second woman President to take such a flight.

Pride in India's Defense Capability

President Murmu's flight in the Rafale is a demonstration of India's modern defense capability and the strength of the Air Force. The Rafale aircraft, manufactured by the French company Dassault Aviation, were formally inducted into the Indian Air Force in September 2020. The first five Rafale aircraft were included in the 17 Squadron 'Golden Arrow' in Ambala.

Rafale is a multi-purpose, state-of-the-art, high-speed fighter aircraft. This aircraft played a decisive role in the recent 'Operation Sindhur' during the action on terrorist bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
