Rahul Gandhi : Rahul Gandhi attacks the government citing Manoj Naravane's unpublished book
There was a major uproar in the Lok Sabha on Monday over the China-India border issue. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi cited the unpublished book of former Army Chief General Manoj Naravane, making a serious claim that China had pitched four tents within India's territory. Due to Rahul Gandhi's statement, there was an intense verbal conflict between the ruling party and the opposition, and finally, the Lok Sabha proceedings had to be adjourned for the day.
While speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said that the way the government is claiming that the situation is under control on the India-China border is not consistent with reality. He claimed that an unpublished book by former Army Chief Manoj Naravane mentions that China has set up four tents in Indian territory. This issue is related to national security, and Rahul Gandhi accused the government of not telling the truth to the country.
As Rahul Gandhi's speech began, there was a loud uproar from the ruling benches. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh strongly objected to Rahul Gandhi's statement. He clarified that sensitive matters related to national security should be presented in Parliament with utmost responsibility and it is not appropriate to discuss them in the House by referring to unpublished books. In response, Rahul Gandhi said that the things mentioned in the book are official and since they are related to the country's security, it is necessary to discuss them. “I am not revealing any confidential documents, but referring to information from a former army chief's book,” said Rahul Gandhi.
However, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha intervened on this issue and took a clear stance. The Speaker stated that discussions cannot be held in the House on matters from a book that has not yet been published or officially presented before Parliament. “It is not appropriate to disrupt the proceedings of the House by referring to things from printed or unpublished books,” the Speaker instructed Rahul Gandhi to change the subject.
However, the commotion did not stop. As strong accusations and counter-accusations continued between the ruling party and the opposition, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned for some time. Later, as the situation did not come under control, it was finally decided to suspend the proceedings of the House for the entire day. Meanwhile, it is being speculated that the Lok Sabha may once again be disrupted on this issue on Tuesday. The Congress is demanding an official clarification from the government, while the ruling party is accusing Rahul Gandhi of making irresponsible statements under the guise of national security. The issue of the China-India border dispute has once again come to the forefront in Parliament, and there are signs that the political atmosphere may heat up further in the coming days.
