Girish Mahajan : Reaction to Sunetra Pawar's oath-taking; said
After the untimely demise of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, there has been a rapid development in the state's politics. Especially in the Nationalist Congress Party, discussions have surged regarding leadership change, responsibilities in power, and future direction. Against this backdrop, BJP leader and minister Girish Mahajan clarified his stance while interacting with the media in Nashik regarding Sunetra Pawar's swearing-in as Deputy Chief Minister.
Speaking about Sunetra Pawar's swearing-in ceremony, Girish Mahajan said, “This is completely a matter of the Nationalist Congress Party. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also clearly told them to make their party's decision. We have no problem with this.” Mahajan also noted that whatever decision is being made by the Nationalist Congress Party, they may have their own strategy behind it. “It seems a bit rushed, but there might be some difficulties or reasons behind it,” he made a suggestive statement.
Meanwhile, Girish Mahajan expressed a clear opinion on the discussions about the two Nationalist Congress Parties coming together. “Even if both Nationalist Congresses come together, we have no problem. In fact, if they come together, we will be happy. However, this decision is entirely up to both Nationalist parties,” he said. Thus, he indicated that there is no opposition from the BJP to this potential merger.
When asked about Sharad Pawar's role in the swearing-in ceremony, Girish Mahajan said, “This is a decision of Ajitdada Pawar's group. We are not aware of the internal developments of their party.” Speaking on the discussions about Sharad Pawar not being invited to the swearing-in, he said, “If it were possible, he would definitely have been invited. However, currently, there is a hectic schedule, and it is a small swearing-in ceremony.”
Mahajan once again clarified that this entire issue is an internal matter of the Nationalist Congress Party. "I will be attending the swearing-in ceremony," he said, clarifying the BJP's stance. While the internal equations within the NCP are changing, the BJP seems to be taking a 'watch and wait' approach, as evident from these statements.
