Red Soil Story YouTuber Shirish Gawas Passes Away
A very sad incident has emerged from the digital world. The famous YouTuber Shirish Gawas, who showcased the beautiful food culture and rural lifestyle of Konkan through the Red Soil Story YouTube channel, passed away at the age of just 33. The cause of his death is said to be a brain hemorrhage.
Shirish and his wife Pooja Gawas had won the hearts of thousands of viewers by showcasing traditional Konkani food, home-grown vegetables, and rural lifestyle. They both became a beloved and recognized name in the digital world of Konkan. The news of Shirish's passing was shared by YouTuber Ankita Walawalkar, known as 'Kokan Hearted Girl', through her Instagram story. Shirish had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Goa for a few days, but his condition did not improve, and he eventually passed away.
This tragic demise occurred just a year after they became parents, making the impact on the family even more severe. This morning at 11 AM, they were cremated at Sasoli Patye Rehabilitation in Dodamarg Taluka. Previously settled in Mumbai, Shirish and Pooja decided to leave the hectic city life during the COVID period and settle in Konkan. Shirish worked as a sales manager in Mumbai, while Pooja, a graduate in Fine Arts from J.J. School of Art, pursued Production Design education from FTII Pune. Subsequently, she worked as an art director in Bollywood for seven years.
Red Soil Story has become more than just a YouTube channel; it has become a window into the lifestyle of Konkan. Farming in one's own fields, preparing organic food, and presenting beautiful scenes of village life through their videos. The demise of Shirish Gawas is a great loss not only to his family but also to the digital world. The memories of what he preserved through this medium—his stories, culture, and love for food—will always remain alive in the hearts of the audience.
