Relief for Farmers Soon! Major Announcement on Loan Waiver in the Final Week
(CM Devendra Fadnavis) At the winter session of the state legislature held in Nagpur, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced several important decisions during the discussion on the weekly proposal. He stated that 120,000 government recruitments will be made in the state over the next three years, and there will be significant investment in Vidarbha. He also clarified that local self-government elections will be held soon.
The Chief Minister said that significant financial assistance has been provided to farmers in two phases. So far, more than 15,000 crore rupees have been directly deposited into the accounts of farmers, benefiting approximately 92 lakh farmers. Although there are allegations of aid not being received in some places, he stated that the majority of farmers have received the amount. Funds have been approved for thousands of wells for the repair of irrigation wells damaged by heavy rains.
The state government had previously announced a special assistance package. This included infrastructure, works under the employment guarantee scheme, and direct farmer assistance. Additional financial aid has been provided for Rabi crops, and compensation for livestock loss is also being given. Various works are underway to provide employment in rural areas, the Chief Minister said.
Speaking on the issue of loan waivers, Fadnavis said that the assistance given to farmers should reach them directly. Permanent solutions are necessary to avoid the need for frequent loan waivers. A committee is working on this, and a new policy will be announced by July 1, he clarified.
