Sanjay Raut On PM Modi: Sanjay Raut Makes Sensational Claim in Upcoming Book

Sharad Pawar saved Modi from arrest: Sanjay Raut's revelation in 'Hell in Heaven'.

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) MP Sanjay Raut has made a striking revelation in his soon-to-be-released book ‘Narkatla Swarg’ (Hell in Heaven), claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi narrowly escaped arrest during the Gujarat riots case due to an intervention by senior NCP leader Sharad Pawar. Raut, who penned the book while lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail, delves into his personal experiences as well as the political undercurrents that have shaped the nation's landscape. The book is scheduled for release tomorrow and has already stirred political debate with its explosive content.

According to excerpts from the book, during the tenure of the UPA government, there was an active move to arrest Narendra Modi, who was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat and an accused in the Gujarat riots case. Raut claims that during a cabinet meeting held at the time, Sharad Pawar opposed the arrest. “In that cabinet meeting, Sharad Pawar said, ‘Even if there are political differences, arresting a democratically elected Chief Minister would not be right,’” Raut writes. He further states that Pawar’s statement played a crucial role in preventing Modi’s arrest, thereby altering the course of Indian politics.

The book also highlights the support given by Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray and the party to both Modi and Amit Shah during their early political struggles. Raut presents this support as a key factor in the rise of the BJP’s top leadership. With ‘Narkatla Swarg’ expected to attract significant political attention, Raut’s revelations could ignite fresh discussions around the political dynamics of the early 2000s and the alliances that shaped the careers of India’s most powerful leaders.

The book’s release comes at a politically sensitive time and is expected to deepen ongoing debates over historical accountability, inter-party relationships, and the political legacy of the Gujarat riots.
