  • Schools across the state to remain closed on November 24

  • Teacher organizations aggressive against TET mandate

  • State government should intervene immediately

The Teacher Eligibility Test, or TET, has been made mandatory for teachers. In protest against this TET mandate, teacher organizations have warned of a statewide school closure on November 24. This decision will impact thousands of students across the state. A meeting was recently organized at Ravasheb Patwardhan School and Junior College in Pune to discuss the pressing issues of teachers across the state, initiated jointly by various teacher organizations.

The state government should immediately file a review petition against the Supreme Court's September 1 decision mandating the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) and pursue the matter with the central government. If no action is taken within two weeks, teachers across the state will hold a school shutdown protest on November 24, warned the Maharashtra State Primary Teachers Association and the Maharashtra State Municipal and Municipal Corporation Primary Teachers Association on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it was announced that if a review petition is not filed even after the protest, the organization will directly file a petition in the Supreme Court. Teachers are being targeted by misinterpreting the Supreme Court's decision. Due to this decision of the state government, there is widespread discontent among teachers, and actions are being taken against them by misapplying references, alleged the office bearers of the teachers' organization.

The state government should intervene immediately

It is expected that the state government should intervene immediately to stop the incidents of targeting teachers, as the absence of TET has created a risk to the jobs of many experienced teachers.

The state government should intervene immediately

In this context, the state government should intervene immediately, otherwise, the teachers will take to the streets and a statewide school shutdown protest will be held on November 24, warned the teachers' committee.

…otherwise, there will be great discontent in the education sector

While implementing the mandatory 'TET' decision, experienced teachers should be protected, and their services and facilities should not be hindered, otherwise, there will be great discontent in the education sector. The teachers' organizations have appealed to take immediate steps after considering this seriously, said Satish Koli of the Primary Teachers' Committee.

...then the organization will directly file a petition in the Supreme Court

It was announced at this time that if a review petition is not filed even after the protest, the organization will directly file a petition in the Supreme Court. Teachers are being targeted by misinterpreting the Supreme Court's decision. This decision has caused immense dissatisfaction among the state's teachers.
