Sharad Pawar–Ajit Pawar: Internal Disagreements Resurface Over NCP Merger Talks
Fresh talks of a potential merger between the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have reignited political speculation and drawn sharp differences within the group led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
While some leaders from Ajit Pawar's camp support the idea of reuniting with the parent faction led by Sharad Pawar, sources reveal that not everyone is on board. According to insider reports, senior leaders such as State President Sunil Tatkare and National Working President Praful Patel are opposing the proposed merger, even as Ajit Pawar is reportedly in favor of it.
Amidst the rising political buzz, Amol Mitkari, spokesperson and prominent leader from the Ajit Pawar faction, addressed the issue publicly.
"The discussion about a merger will be held at the senior leadership level," Mitkari stated. "Every NCP worker believes that both factions should come together. There is no contradiction between the two groups. Ultimately, the final decision will be taken by senior leaders—Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, and Supriya Sule," he added.
The statement reflects the delicate balancing act within the party, as both ideological and political interests come into play. With growing pressure and changing electoral dynamics in Maharashtra, all eyes are now on how the top leadership navigates this complex issue.
The possibility of reconciliation between the two NCP factions could significantly alter the political landscape ahead of upcoming elections. However, deep-rooted differences and internal resistance suggest that the road to unification may not be smooth.
