Severe Cold Alert in Maharashtra within 48 Hours; Yellow Alert Issued
(Maharashtra Weather News) The impact of the cold wave that has intensified in North India is now being felt in Maharashtra as well as Central India. According to the information provided by the Meteorological Department, temperatures in many parts of the state are likely to drop further, and cloudy weather will persist in some places.
The cold will intensify over the next two days
The cold in the state is gradually becoming persistent, and a drop in minimum temperatures has started to be observed once again. According to experts' forecasts, in the next 48 hours, temperatures in Pune, Nagar, Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon could fall by 3 to 4 degrees. In some places, the mercury could drop to 7–8 degrees, increasing the likelihood of more severe cold conditions across the state.
Nashik colder than Mahabaleshwar
In the past 24 hours, the chill was clearly felt in North Maharashtra. On Tuesday, Nashik recorded a minimum temperature of 10.3 degrees, while Mahabaleshwar recorded 12 degrees. Thus, Nashik surpassed Mahabaleshwar to be noted as the colder location.
Cold wave returns in Satara as well
In Satara district, temperatures have dropped again, with the mercury settling at 13 degrees. People heading out in the morning for walks or work are relying on sweaters, shawls, and warm clothing. The cold, which had eased for a few days, has started increasing again over the past three days. Fog and chill persist in the Wai and Panchgani areas, leading to a noticeable rise in the number of tourists.
Chill intensifies in Jalgaon district
In many parts of Jalgaon district, the cold has gained strength. In Tondapur and surrounding areas of Jamner taluka, a severe chill is felt in the mornings and evenings. In the Ajintha mountain range, the cold is increasing day by day, and the beautiful view of the fog is attracting the attention of tourists.
