Sanjay Raut : 'Shinde has locked the corporators in a hotel', Raut's attack on Shinde's moves
The power dynamics for the mayoral election in Mumbai Municipal Corporation remain uncertain, and the political temperature has risen further due to statements made by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut. In one statement, Raut mentioned, "Shinde has confined the corporators in a hotel," making it easier to monitor political movements. He said that now those who break MLAs are afraid of defections, and Surat is the only safe place for the Shinde group. According to Raut, "Even in his own state, Eknath Shinde feels insecure," he warned.
Additionally, Raut commented on Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying, "Fadnavis is stubborn, I know him. Will Fadnavis make Shinde the mayor? And will Fadnavis accept a mayor from Shah's party?" He raised such a question. Political analysts believe that despite BJP's lead in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, the role of the Shinde group is proving decisive. For BJP to secure the mayoral position, it is necessary to compromise with the Shinde group, and in this process of compromise, Raut's statement is serving as a tool to increase political pressure.
Currently, despite the BJP having an advantage with 89 against 29 in the municipal corporation, the 29 corporators of the Shinde group are proving to be the key to establishing final power. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how long the political equation for the mayoral post will last and who will win. Overall, the election for the mayoral post in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation will now depend not only on numbers but also on the Shinde-BJP, Fadnavis-Shah, and political pressure factors.
