Sikandar to Stream on OTT Soon: Box Office Disappointment, But Gathers Momentum in Single Screens
OTT Premiere Expected in May
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, 'Sikandar' will be available for streaming on Netflix either on May 11 or May 25, though the official OTT release date has not yet been confirmed by the makers. The film is expected to gain renewed attention on digital platforms, especially among Salman Khan’s loyal fan base.
Box Office Performance: Underwhelming Start
Despite high expectations and a budget of ₹200 crore, 'Sikandar' failed to make a strong impact at the box office. The film opened with ₹26 crore on Day 1, followed by a slight increase on the second day. However, collections dropped sharply by Day 4, bringing in only ₹9.75 crore.
In its first week, the film managed to collect just ₹97.50 crore, falling well short of expectations and signaling a disappointing run at the box office.
Single Screens Show Support, But Not Enough
While multiplex audiences gave the film a lukewarm response, single-screen theatres in smaller towns and semi-urban areas witnessed relatively better turnout. Still, the numbers weren’t sufficient to rescue the film from being labeled a box office underperformer.
'Sikandar', featuring high-octane action sequences and patriotic themes, was promoted as a major festival release for Salman Khan. However, mixed reviews and word-of-mouth reactions seem to have impacted its theatrical success.
Hopes Now Rest on OTT Viewership
With its digital release on Netflix, the makers hope to tap into a global streaming audience, giving the film a second lease of life. Salman Khan’s massive fan following on OTT platforms could potentially turn the tide for 'Sikandar', at least in terms of viewership.
