After the Supreme Court's decision in July regarding the stray dog issue, various reactions emerged across the country. Subsequently, in August, the court amended the decision, clarifying that sterilization is the main solution instead of keeping stray dogs in shelter homes.
Against this backdrop, a hearing will be held again in the Supreme Court today, October 27. Although the issue of stray dogs in Delhi is central to this case, the court may also issue guidelines for other states. Therefore, animal lovers are focused on this hearing.
The Supreme Court will hear a total of four petitions, including a suo motu petition. On August 22, the court had made all states and union territories parties to the case, not limiting its scope to Delhi alone.
The hearing of this case will take place before a special bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sandeep Mehta, and Justice N. V. Anjaria. Important directives are expected from this hearing in the context of the increasing number of stray dogs across the country.
