Supriya Sule on Maharashtra Election: 'Resolve the Confusion...', Supriya Sule's Demand
Supriya Sule, a Member of Parliament from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), strongly criticized the state government over the economic-social situation, law and order, and farmers' issues in Maharashtra. Speaking at a press conference, she accused the government of implementing selective policies. Sule said that the government is engaging in the politics of renaming in Maharashtra. "If this policy is right, then do it everywhere from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Why only love Maharashtra? Will they change Maharashtra's name tomorrow?" she questioned.
Direct criticism on farmers, unemployment, and inflation
Stating that Maharashtra is going through a severe economic crisis, they raised the issue of farmer suicides. “In the state, a farmer commits suicide every three hours. Sugarcane farmers are unhappy, onion-soybean farmers are not getting good prices. Promised loan waivers by Diwali, but nothing was received. Two-three rupees aid is a mockery of farmers,” they clarified.
Questions on Pune massacre and law and order
Referring to the daylight massacre in Pune, they questioned the law and order situation in Maharashtra. “Crime has increased, unemployment and inflation have risen. These are not just allegations; the data is from the central government itself,” they noted.
Irregularities in the Voter List; Questions on the Election Commission
Referring to the alleged evidence of irregularities in the voter list provided by Rahul Gandhi, Sule said, “There is a mess in the voter lists. There is a girl's name who does not even reside in the country but has voted. This is serious. The Election Commission must respond. There is no point in conducting elections without resolving the mess.”
Demand for a Special Session
Stating that the situation in the state is serious, they demanded a special session to discuss issues related to farmers, the economy, and crime. “Even though we are in opposition, we should come together for the benefit of Maharashtra. Unity like Operation Sindhur is now necessary for Maharashtra,” they said.
Position on Navi Mumbai Airport Renaming
Raising the issue of renaming Navi Mumbai Airport, Sule stated that the sentiments are of the locals. “The Maharashtra government should clearly send the proposal and the center should make an urgent decision,” she demanded.
Supriya Sule accused the government of insensitivity and stated that the situation in the state is concerning. “We are not making accusations, we are presenting the reality. Maharashtra is in economic and social trouble,” she concluded.
