Thane Metro : Thane residents will travel swiftly by circular metro; What will the route be like?
Considering the increasing traffic congestion in the suburbs around Mumbai, the metro network is rapidly expanding. In Thane city too, several metro projects are progressing on the same lines, and now a decision has been made to implement the circular metro project within Thane. The daily commute of Thane residents will become more convenient, faster, and safer due to this new metro project. According to the information received, MahaMetro has announced a tender of 223.70 crore rupees aimed at reducing internal traffic congestion in Thane city. Under this tender, elevated metro stations will be constructed at Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha, Manpada, Dongripada, Vijay Nagari, Waghbil, and Waterfront.
29-kilometer circular route, 22 stations
The total length of the Thane internal circular metro route is 29 kilometers, and there will be a total of 22 metro stations on this route. Work on 6 stations along the 6-kilometer stretch will be completed in the first phase of the project. Approximately 26 kilometers of the entire route will be elevated. Two metro stations near Thane railway station will be underground, making the interchange between railway and metro easier. This metro project will provide direct metro connectivity to important internal areas of Thane such as Wagle Estate, Ghodbunder Road, Kolshet, and Saket. As a result, the daily commute for residents in these areas will become faster, saving a significant amount of time.
Mumbai-Thane-Kalyan travel will become easier
Thane's internal circular metro will have direct connectivity with Mumbai Metro 4 and Metro 5 lines. This will make metro travel possible from Thane to Mumbai as well as Thane to Kalyan, providing significant relief to suburban commuters.
Estimated 8.7 lakh daily commuters
By 2045, it is estimated that approximately 8 lakh 70 thousand commuters will travel daily on this metro line. This project, costing around 12,200 crore rupees, will be built in a joint partnership between the state and central government, and is expected to give a new direction to Thane's public transportation.
