Thane water Cut: Thane residents, use water sparingly! 25% water cut for the next few days
The continuous heavy rainfall for three days has affected the residents of Thane. Due to the excessive rainfall in the Bhatsa dam area, a large amount of silt, tree branches, and garbage have accumulated in the riverbed of the Pise pumping station. As a result, water has entered the pumping station, reducing its pumping capacity, and the water supply to Thane city has decreased by as much as 25%.
According to the information provided by the municipal officials, the work of removing the silt and garbage stuck in the pump's strainer is ongoing at a war footing. However, due to the extremely muddy water in the riverbed, there are also challenges in the purification process. Therefore, it has become clear that in the coming days, there will be an insufficient and irregular water supply in Thane city.
Meanwhile, the municipal corporation has appealed to citizens to use water sparingly, store it if possible, and ensure it is boiled before drinking. It has also been advised that using murky water can adversely affect health.
The municipal corporation has stated that this issue is temporary and the situation will soon be brought under control. However, due to such problems arising every monsoon, the demand for a permanent solution to Thane's water issues has once again gained momentum.
