Maharashtra Municipal Election : The bugle of municipal elections in Maharashtra has sounded; Voting will take place on 'this' day
The State Election Commission has announced the pending elections for 29 municipal corporations in the state. The Supreme Court has ordered that municipal elections be held before January 29. Today's press conference was for the municipal elections. Elections are being held for 2,789 seats. The code of conduct is being implemented from today. Municipal elections in the state are scheduled from December 23 to December 30 for nomination papers.

The proposed 29 municipal elections in Maharashtra include the following municipal corporations for the upcoming municipal elections in the state— Ahilyanagar, Akola, Amravati, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Brihanmumbai, Chandrapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dhule, Ichalkaranji, Jalgaon, Jalna, Kalyan-Dombivli, Kolhapur, Latur, Malegaon, Mira-Bhayander, Nagpur, Nanded-Waghala, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Parbhani, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, Solapur, Thane, Ulhasnagar, and Vasai-Virar.
The commission has started extensive preparations for the upcoming elections. Elections are planned for 29 municipal corporations, 32 district councils, and 336 panchayat committees in the state. Preparations have been intensified on both administrative and technical fronts to conduct elections on such a large scale.
Potential Duplicate Voters
For this election, names of potential duplicate voters in the voter list have been removed. Verification of these voters has been done by visiting their homes. No voter will be allowed to vote at a polling station outside their constituency. There were 1.1 million potential duplicate voters in Mumbai. In some places, the number of potential duplicate voters was higher in municipal corporations. Double stars have been marked in front of potential duplicate voters.
