Meanwhile, considering the under-construction Vadhavan port and the immense opportunities in the maritime sector, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that the largest shipyard in the country be established in Maharashtra by 2026. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that a detailed project report should be prepared for setting up the largest shipyard in the country. The necessary land should be identified for this purpose. A railway line from Vaibhavwadi to Kolhapur should be prepared to develop Jaigad, Angre, Redi, and Vijaydurg ports. Provision should be made for the state's financial participation in this route. Additionally, a highway is being constructed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation from Vadhavan port to Nashik. Development planning should be done considering the affected areas on both sides of this highway.
