The historic Vijaydurg Fort in Sindhudurg district is now set to receive a new lease of life. The central government has taken significant steps to preserve the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Archaeological Survey of India has approved a fund of 8 crore 60 lakh rupees for the repair of the broken parts of the fort's sea bastion. The efforts of the state's minister and Sindhudurg's guardian minister, Nitesh Rane, were instrumental in securing this fund approval. Additionally, Member of Parliament Narayan Rane pursued this project through correspondence with the central government. This marks a major milestone in the conservation of Vijaydurg Fort.

Vijaydurg Fort is not only of historical importance but also holds special significance from an architectural perspective. The fort's sea bastions are water-rich areas, and some parts of the fortifications showed weakness due to the long-term effects of natural elements. Now, technically scientific methods will be undertaken to restore these broken parts.

For this, work will be carried out under MW (Conservation) RCP through the Mumbai division and Vijaydurg sub-division. The project will focus on strengthening the fortification wall as well as preserving the original style of historical architecture. These works are planned under the supervision of archaeological experts, ensuring that the fort's beauty and historical heritage are maintained.

The Vijaydurg Fort in Sindhudurg district is an ancient fort located by the sea, and its geographical position is considered strategically very important. Repairing the fortification of this fort will strengthen its protection and boost tourism here. The work is planned to be completed as soon as possible with the cooperation of the local administration and the archaeological department.

Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane said, “Vijaydurg Fort is not just the heritage of Sindhudurg, but of the entire Maharashtra. By preserving this historic fort, we will protect this heritage for future generations.” He stated that the approval of funds from the central government will greatly accelerate the work of preserving historical heritage. Overall, the conservation and restoration project of Vijaydurg Fort's fortifications will be an important step towards preserving historical heritage, which will also provide cultural and tourism benefits to the fort in the future.
