Sanjay Raut : ‘The issue of seat allocation is over from our side’, Sanjay Raut's clear warning
In the backdrop of the 2026 Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, political movements have gained momentum in the camps of the grand alliance and the Maha Vikas Aghadi, and Thackeray group's MP Sanjay Raut has expressed a clear stance on the ongoing discussions about seat allocation. “The issue of seat allocation is over from our side. We have now directly started working,” Sanjay Raut firmly stated, putting an end to all speculations.
While speaking to the media in Mumbai, Raut said, “When two or more parties come together, it is natural for seat exchanges to happen. After some seats are given away, the aspiring workers in those parties do get upset. However, elections have to be fought by understanding the workers.” For the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, BJP has announced a list of 66 candidates today, and an official list of 28 candidates has also been released from the Thackeray group. Hence, the disagreements over seat allocation have come back into discussion.
“Whether it is Congress or Shiv Sena, is Ajit Pawar contesting independently?” Raut indirectly targeted the Shinde group by raising this question. He claimed that there is an atmosphere of discontent in the Shinde group currently, and a resignation session is ongoing in Thane. While speaking on the issue of rebellion, Raut made a scathing criticism. “Is this the rebellion of 1857? No. The party would have given a lot to the workers, but sometimes the party cannot give, this cannot be called a rebellion. The Shinde group says we rebelled, what rebellion? Nonsense. Today they have to lick boots,” he criticized in such words.
Speaking on the political situation in Pune, Sanjay Raut said, “The picture will soon be clear in Pune. Three to four parties are together and the right decision will be made. We have left seats for the NCP. The seats that were to be left from our side have been left, and the issue is over from our side. If they want more seats, they are from the MNS quota.”
While speaking about the Congress–Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi alliance, Raut welcomed this alliance. “Even if they are not with us, it does not matter. In the Lok Sabha elections, they had an ideological dispute with Congress,” he clarified.
Speaking on the Sharad Pawar–Adani issue, Raut said, “People should read Sharad Pawar's book. Everything will be clear from it. He has shaped an entrepreneur like Adani. Considering a Marathi person as a guide is a matter of pride.”
