In a bold statement that stirred political discussions, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ashok Chavan asserted that the pace of development in India significantly accelerated under the BJP government compared to the Congress era. While speaking to reporters in Nanded, Chavan openly supported the BJP's developmental initiatives and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

"In the last 11 years, development under the BJP government has been more structured and impactful than during the Congress period," said Chavan. "While the Congress took more time, the BJP has executed various development projects in a planned and systematic manner under Modi ji’s leadership."

Chavan also referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to Nanded, stating that Shah personally acknowledged the working style of Shankarrao Chavan, a former Union Home Minister and Chavan’s father. "Amit Shah praised the way Shankarrao Chavan handled files and decision-making. His appreciation makes it clear how highly regarded that administrative model was," Chavan added. He also noted that Prime Minister Modi has previously acknowledged Shankarrao Chavan’s contribution to Indian politics in public.

Chavan further appreciated the launch of the Mumbai–Nanded Vande Bharat Express and credited Union Minister Raosaheb Danve for his contribution to the project.

Speaking on the Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Jal), Chavan highlighted the success of this flagship scheme: “Millions across the country and Maharashtra are directly benefiting from Prime Minister Modi’s ambitious initiative. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has also extended full cooperation by granting necessary permissions, and the remaining work will be completed soon.”

Ashok Chavan’s comments signal his continued alignment with the BJP’s developmental agenda, while also subtly distancing himself from the Congress party's legacy in governance.
