India is currently grappling with a severe heat wave, with temperatures in Maharashtra soaring to nearly 45 degrees Celsius during the months of April and May. This scorching heat left citizens struggling, but the unseasonal rains in May provided much-needed relief. The sudden showers have given people a respite from the oppressive heat, and many are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the monsoon.

Farmers across the country, who rely heavily on seasonal rainfall for their crops, are particularly hopeful this year. The Meteorological Department has issued an encouraging forecast, reassuring many that the rains will arrive earlier than expected. According to the forecast, monsoon rains are set to arrive by the end of May, with rain clouds expected to reach Kerala first.

This year, the monsoon is predicted to make an early arrival in Kerala by May 27, ahead of its usual June onset. The early rains will not only benefit farmers by enabling them to start their planting season on time, but will also bring relief to the general population suffering from the ongoing heat wave.

Following the arrival of rains in Kerala, it is expected that the rest of the country will begin to see rainfall around July 8. The monsoon season will gradually move from the south towards the north and west, with rainfall expected to return to northwest India by mid-September.

As the monsoon season approaches, hopes are high that it will bring a timely end to the heatwave and provide the much-needed respite for both farmers and residents across the nation.
