Strict measures will now be taken against ST employees who consume alcohol while on duty. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has made a direct and clear decision in this regard, ordering the immediate suspension of drivers and employees who come on duty after consuming alcohol.
During an unexpected visit to the Parel bus station in Mumbai, Minister Sarnaiak inspected the drivers' and conductors' restrooms. He was furious upon finding empty liquor bottles and evidence of drinking at the site. He warned that such irresponsible behavior, which endangers passengers' lives, will not be tolerated.
Minister Sarnaiak clarified that driving a bus under the influence of alcohol is an invitation to accidents. Such employees should be investigated and, if necessary, removed from service. Additionally, departmental inquiries will be conducted, and strict action will be taken against officers who ignore such incidents.
Henceforth, it will be mandatory to check each driver with a breath analyzer before duty. If a fault is found, immediate suspension action will be taken. The government will not compromise on the safety of passengers and the trust in ST, as stated firmly by Minister Sarnayak.
