Metro 4 and 4-A lines will be connected to Metro 11, which extends from Wadala to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. As a result, the country's largest metro line, with a total length of 58 kilometers, will come into existence. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has already assured that all phases of this metro will be open to passengers by October 2026. Technical inspection and trial runs have also begun on the priority phase of Metro Route 4 (Wadala–Kasara Vadavali) and 4-A (Kasara Vadavali–Gaimukh). The trial on the Gaimukh Junction to Kasara Vadavali–Vijay Garden route has been successful, taking another step towards metro service.

According to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the total length of the Ghatkopar–Mulund–Gaimukh metro line is 35 kilometers, with Metro 4 being 32 km and Metro 4-A being 2.88 km long. There will be a total of 32 stations on this route, and the project cost is expected to be around 16,000 crore rupees. A joint depot is being constructed on 45 hectares at Bhogaripada for Metro 4, 4-A, 10, and 11. This metro will become an important transport link connecting the eastern suburbs, western suburbs, Mumbai city, and Thane city. It is estimated that more than 1.3 million passengers will use this metro daily once all phases are completed. This will significantly reduce traffic congestion on the roads, decreasing both travel time and pollution.
