A major development occurred on Tuesday in the Anagar Nagar Panchayat elections in Solapur district. The nomination of Ujwala Thite, the candidate from the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), was declared invalid due to the absence of the proposer’s signature. Election decision officer Sachin Mulik accepted this technical reason and rejected the nomination. Independent candidate Saraswati Shinde had raised an objection to this flaw.

This decision has sparked a major discussion in the Anagar area. This election was considered important for former MLA Rajan Patil, who has dominated Anagar's politics for many years. Since the Anagar Gram Panchayat was transformed into a Nagar Panchayat for the first time, Patil's group put in efforts to retain power. On the other hand, Thite alleged that obstacles were created to prevent him from filing his nomination; hence, he filed his nomination at five in the morning with police protection. Meanwhile, as no competitor filed nominations for the 17 seats of the Nagar Panchayat, those seats went uncontested to Rajan Patil's panel. For the position of Nagar President, Patil's daughter-in-law Prajakta Ajinkyarana Patil filed her nomination. During scrutiny, Thite's nomination was rejected, ensuring Prajakta Patil's victory.

Ujwala Thite expressed dissatisfaction over this sudden decision. “How did my son's signature disappear as a proposer? I had all the documents checked by a lawyer. After so much struggle, the application was filed and now it is rejected on technical grounds? I will go to court to get an explanation,” she said. NCP leader Umesh Patil also raised questions on the administration and demanded an inquiry. “The signature was made in front of the officials. Yet it was not visible, how is this possible?” he questioned. This incident has caused a major stir in the politics of Angar, and everyone is watching what steps will be taken next.
