Mumbai-Goa Train: Vande Bharat Express has been cancelled due to rain
The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express service has been severely impacted by the onset of the monsoon. Over 100 trips of the CSMT-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express are set to be cancelled due to safety concerns on the Central and Konkan Railway lines.
The Konkan Railway has implemented its annual monsoon timetable from June 15 to October 20, affecting high-speed train operations. As in previous years, train speeds are restricted during the monsoon due to reduced visibility and potential emergency hazards caused by heavy rainfall. To ensure safety, loco pilots have been instructed to limit speeds to 40 kmph during intense rain conditions.
As a result, the Vande Bharat Express, which normally runs six days a week, will now operate only three days a week throughout the monsoon period. This change is expected to cause inconvenience to passengers, particularly those travelling between Mumbai and Goa for work, tourism, or during the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival season.
Revised Schedule:
CSMT to Margao (Train No. 22229): Departs Mumbai at 5:25 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, arriving in Margao at 3:30 PM.
Margao to CSMT (Train No. 22230): Departs Margao at 12:20 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, reaching Mumbai at 10:25 PM.
The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat is one of the most popular services, especially during the festive and tourist seasons. However, passengers this year will need to adjust to the revised schedule and may have to seek alternative travel options until normal services resume in late October.
