General Knowledge : What is the paper of currency notes in India made from? Do you know?
No use of ordinary paper
What we call a 'currency note' is not actually made from ordinary paper. If the notes were made of paper, they would get wet in water or tear easily.
100% Cotton
100% cotton is used to make Indian currency notes. Cotton fibers are stronger and more durable than paper made from wood.
Mixture of Chemicals and Jute
Cotton fibers contain a component called 'cellulose'. When making notes, special chemicals and a mixture of jute are added to the cotton, which makes the texture of the notes stronger and prevents them from deteriorating quickly.
Identifying Counterfeit Notes
When printing notes, not only cotton is used, but also security threads, watermarks, and other secret symbols are included, making it easier to identify counterfeit notes.
Use of Special Ink
A special type of ink is used for printing on notes, which gives the notes a distinct touch. This allows visually impaired individuals to identify notes by touch.
