Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' big statement regarding the upcoming elections : All eyes are on whether the grand alliance will contest the local self-government elections in the state together or independently. Except for Mumbai, signs of the alliance are not yet visible elsewhere. Against this backdrop, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified the grand alliance's election formula in Nagpur on Thursday (October 23).
Fadnavis said, “Where the grand alliance will benefit, we will fight together, and in some places, we will also enter the field independently.” However, he firmly stated that the grand alliance will remain in the Mumbai municipal elections. Fadnavis clarified that the political equation in Mumbai is different. In Pimpri-Chinchwad, BJP is in the first position, and Ajit Pawar's party is in the second position. In such places, if we fight together, the group of Sharad Pawar could benefit from the disgruntled workers who did not get tickets. Therefore, he said it is necessary to fight independently in some places.
However, in Nagpur, the dominance of the BJP is clear. Here, the strength of Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party is limited. In the previous election, 108 BJP corporators were elected, while only two were from Shiv Sena. Against this backdrop, the possibility of an alliance in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation seems low. Meanwhile, the Congress has also given its local leaders the freedom to form independent fronts. Therefore, the upcoming local elections in the state are likely to be very interesting.
