While traveling from Mumbai to Baramati, his private Learjet 45 aircraft met with a severe accident near Baramati airport. During the landing process, the plane crashed and caught a massive fire within moments. In this accident, the pilot and four other people on board died. This incident has shaken the entire Maharashtra, creating an irreplaceable void in the political and social spheres.
What exactly happened?
Ajit Pawar had left from Mumbai to Baramati yesterday morning for an important event. Preliminary information has emerged that there was a technical fault in the plane while preparing to land at Baramati airport. The plane caught fire a short distance from the runway and crashed to the ground. The rescue team immediately arrived at the scene after the accident. However, the intensity of the fire was so severe that it was not possible to save anyone. Within minutes, the entire plane was reduced to ashes.
Where will the funeral take place?
After Ajit Pawar's demise, workers, supporters, and citizens are overwhelmed with tears. According to the information provided by the family, his last rites will be performed in Baramati itself. On Thursday around 11 AM, the funeral will be conducted with full state honors at the Vidya Pratishthan grounds. Meanwhile, administrative preparations are underway in the Vidya Pratishthan area, and activities have also accelerated in Katewadi, Ajit Pawar's native village. The final location for the funeral will be decided by the Pawar family.

In the Lok Sabha, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute following the news of Ajit Pawar's demise. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his condolences. A strict shutdown has been observed in Baramati and Beed, with markets, schools, and colleges closed. The state government has declared a three-day mourning period and canceled all government cultural events.
