Pune: In connection with the municipal and local self-government elections, we have started a good survey. We will proceed by taking some estimates from this survey. Although we have a large number of aspirants, only those who have a place in the people's minds and are recognized by the people as councilors will be given candidacy, as hinted by the state's Revenue Minister and BJP's election in-charge Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

After the BJP assigned Bawankule the responsibility as the state election in-charge for the local self-government elections in the state, he held a meeting with party officials in Pune on Wednesday regarding the elections. Prior to that, he interacted with the media. He said that in the local self-government elections in the state, the grand alliance will win with more than 51% of the votes. Against the backdrop of the elections, we held a coordination committee meeting yesterday with NCP state president Sunil Tatkare, Shiv Sena minister Uday Samant, Shambhuraje Desai, and others. In this meeting, our effort will be to contest the elections through the grand alliance in as many places as possible. If the local situation necessitates contesting separately, it was decided in the coordination committee meeting to ensure that there will be no disputes, disagreements, or differences within the grand alliance.

On the question of discussions about two NCPs and two Shiv Sena coming together to contest the elections, Bawankule said, these elections are at the local level. Therefore, in some places, there might be a BJP-NCP contest, and in some places, a BJP-Shiv Sena contest. In such cases, it is their decision with whom the NCP and Shiv Sena want to ally. However, wherever we face the clock or bow and arrow symbol, we will ensure there is no discord among us, Bawankule clarified.

Will think after the court convicts

On the question of a criminal from Tuljapur being admitted to the BJP, Bawankule said, just because a case is filed against someone doesn't make them a criminal. If they are punished for the crime, then they become a criminal. If the court acquits them after a case is filed, they have the right to vote and participate in politics. If the court convicts them, we will consider it, thus supporting the entry of the criminal.

In short

All parties are preparing vigorously for the upcoming elections
