Sunetra Pawar : Why didn't Sunetra Pawar get the finance department? Important information revealed
Important information has emerged regarding the distribution of portfolios in the state cabinet, and according to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's letter, Governor Acharya Devvrat has awarded three portfolios to Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar. These include Sports and Youth Welfare, State Excise, and Minority Development and Waqf. However, the important Finance and Planning portfolio previously held by the late Ajit Pawar has not been given to Sunetra Pawar at present. It has been clarified that the Finance portfolio will remain with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. On March 6, Chief Minister Fadnavis will present the budget for the financial year 2026-27 for the state. Therefore, it has been confirmed that the upcoming budget will be directly presented by the Chief Minister.
Why was Sunetra Pawar not given the finance department?
The reason for not giving Sunetra Pawar the finance department has also come to light. According to sources, Sunetra Pawar currently lacks administrative experience. In such a situation, with the budget session approaching and the state budget to be presented in just a few days, it could be challenging to assign such an important department to a leader taking on new responsibilities.
Additionally, the preliminary preparation for the 2026-27 budget was almost completed by Ajit Pawar, according to sources. In the final stages of the budget, last-minute changes, improvements, and coordination are necessary. In such a situation, a sudden change in department could have caused difficulties in the administration. Therefore, it is said that the decision was made to keep the finance department with the Chief Minister for now.
Coordination with NCP maintained
According to sources, the finance department has been kept with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while maintaining coordination with the Nationalist Congress Party. It has also been revealed that after the budget is presented, the finance and planning department will again remain with the Nationalist Congress Party, indicating that this decision is considered temporary.
