Discussions have once again started in political circles that the country's largest party, BJP, will soon get a new president. A meeting was held on Wednesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and many senior leaders of the BJP, and it has come to light that the name of the new president was discussed in this meeting. On the other hand, it is also being said that the BJP has finalized the name of the Uttar Pradesh president in this meeting and an announcement regarding this will be made in the next few days. Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, current president Jagat Prakash Nadda, and BJP General Secretary BL Santosh were present at the back-to-back meetings on Wednesday.
According to some media reports, BJP may elect a new president before December 15. On the other hand, BJP has not provided any official information about when the new president will be elected. However, according to a report in Deccan Chronicle, since there are elections in many states next year, i.e., in 2026, many leaders believe that the party will get a new president before these elections. Assembly elections are to be held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and Assam in 2026.
Names being discussed for the presidency
According to the current information, no name has been finalized for the presidency yet, but the names of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Bhupendra Yadav, and BJP leader Vinod Tawde are being discussed vigorously along with the state's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. On the other hand, among women leaders in this race, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, D. Purandeswari, and Vanathi Srinivasan are leading.
After the massive victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, Pradhan's name is considered to be at the forefront. Pradhan was in charge of the Bihar elections. On the other hand, the current president and Union Minister Nadda's term has ended before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He has been given extensions several times.
