Nagpur Winter Session : Work on the Nagpur Winter Session Delayed..., Contractors Declare Non-cooperation
Nagpur: The Nagpur winter session is facing a crisis. Contractors have decided to halt work again as they have not received the overdue payments for work done a year ago. The preparations for the legislative winter session starting in Nagpur from December 8 have suffered a major setback. With 1.5 billion rupees outstanding for last year's work and only 200 million rupees disbursed by the government, the disgruntled contractors have announced a work stoppage from Friday. As a result, the Public Works Department faces a significant challenge to meet the December 1 deadline to complete the work.
The outstanding amount of 150 crore rupees is for the previous winter session works in Nagpur. Tenders worth 93.84 crore have been issued for the upcoming session. At the beginning of the month, contractors halted work for several days. Subsequently, the PWD and the state government assured that the outstanding amount would be received soon. However, on Thursday, the PWD received only 20 crore rupees from this account. In an emergency meeting of the contractors, the decision to halt work was made.
