Seven Killed After Cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua
Natural disasters are continuously occurring in Jammu and Kashmir. After the severe incident in Kishtwar, the cloudburst and heavy rains on Saturday night in Jodh Valley and Janglot area of Kathua district disrupted life. In the incidents of sudden floods and landslides, 7 people lost their lives, including 5 children.
In the village of Bagra, a landslide resulted in the death of a woman and her daughter. Additionally, Surmuddin (32) and his two children, Fanu (6) and Shedu (5), were among the five people who died. In Jangalot, Renu Devi (39) and her daughter Radhika (9) died due to being buried in a landslide. Following this incident, the local administration and security forces immediately began relief efforts.
Due to heavy rainfall, traffic on the Jammu-Pathankot railway line has also come to a halt. Helicopters are being used for rescue operations as roads are closed. So far, 15 injured individuals have been safely evacuated and admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the search operation continues on the fourth day after the cloudburst in Chishoti village of Kishtwar on August 14. The death toll in this incident has reached 60, and about 80 citizens are missing. So far, 167 people have been rescued alive. The administration machinery is prepared in this regard, and further rescue operations are underway.
