Jalgaon: Pregnant Tribal Woman Forced to Deliver on Road Due to Lack of Medical Help
In a deeply distressing incident that highlights the dire state of rural healthcare, a pregnant tribal woman was forced to give birth on the roadside near Bormali village in Chopda taluka after failing to receive timely medical assistance. The woman, a resident of a tribal hamlet, went into labor and was being rushed to the nearest hospital by her husband on a motorcycle due to the unavailability of an ambulance. The hospital, located near Vaijapur village, was merely one kilometer away when she gave birth on the roadside.
Even more shocking is the fact that the mother and her newborn remained stranded on the road for nearly two and a half hours, during which not even a single nurse or medical staff member from the hospital arrived to assist them. This incident occurred while both a Union Minister of State and two Maharashtra Cabinet Ministers were present in Jalgaon district, raising serious questions about the state of healthcare infrastructure and emergency response in rural areas.
The situation has drawn sharp criticism and is being described as a disgrace to Maharashtra’s healthcare system. Locals and activists are demanding accountability and immediate improvements in medical facilities for tribal and rural populations, calling the incident a tragic reminder of systemic neglect.
