MNS leader Amit Thackeray has written an emotional and strongly worded letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging restraint in public celebrations following the recent military developments, citing respect for the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers.

In the letter, Thackeray commended the Prime Minister for his leadership and tough decisions in matters of national security. “Under your leadership, the country has taken decisive steps at many crucial junctures. Especially, the tough but necessary decisions taken in the interest of national security deserve gratitude,” he wrote. Thackeray lauded the bravery of Indian soldiers during the recent Operation Sindoor, stating that their courage, discipline, and sacrifice have earned them a permanent place in the hearts of citizens. “Today, soldiers are being saluted in every home, on every street, and across social media. Their unmatched bravery is what keeps us safe, and that deserves more than any celebration,” he added.

However, the MNS leader expressed concern over the symbolic "victory celebrations" being held in some parts of the country. “The current situation is not one of victory, but of a ceasefire. Celebrations while our brave soldiers have just laid down their lives are deeply painful to many,” Thackeray wrote, emphasizing that the nation should instead focus on honoring the fallen and supporting their families.

He called for public restraint, noting that politically motivated events like 'Vijay Yatras' are inappropriate at a time when the country is still mourning. “The true public sentiment is not of celebration, but of a demand for long-term welfare of the martyred soldiers' families, and greater societal sensitivity in the wake of their sacrifice,” he said.

Thackeray also referenced the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent tourists were killed, and ongoing tensions along the Indo-Pak border, where soldiers and civilians have recently lost their lives. He stressed that such incidents highlight the need for continued vigilance and decisive action against terrorism.

“Even though a ceasefire has been declared, history teaches us that Pakistan’s actions are not always trustworthy. Therefore, it is crucial to keep citizens informed, prepared, and mentally equipped to face any potential conflict. This should be part of the government’s long-term strategy,” he stated.

Concluding his letter, Thackeray expressed confidence in the Prime Minister’s sensitivity and leadership. “This letter is a heartfelt request to refrain from celebrating victory while the situation remains unresolved. Exercising restraint would be the greatest tribute to our fallen heroes,” he wrote.
