The city of Pune is set to welcome the revered Palkhis (palanquins) of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj today, marking a significant moment in the annual Wari pilgrimage to Pandharpur. Extensive preparations have been put in place by the Pune Municipal Corporation to ensure the comfort and safety of thousands of Warkaris (devotees) accompanying the Palkhis.

The Palkhi of Sant Tukaram Maharaj will arrive in Pune via the old Mumbai-Pune highway, while the Palkhi of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj will take the route through Dighi, Vishrantwadi, and Sangamwadi. Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram is expected to personally receive the processions and seek blessings by taking darshan.

Accommodation has been arranged at key locations within the city. Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s Palkhi will halt at Shri Khattunga Vithoba Temple in Nana Peth, and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s Palkhi will be stationed at the Vithoba Temple in Bhavani Peth. Both Palkhis will resume their journey toward Pandharpur early Sunday morning.

To manage the large influx of pilgrims, the Pune Municipal Corporation has established multiple service points including health centers, search and rescue booths, fire safety teams, and CCTV monitoring systems across the Palkhi route and resting areas. Mobile clinics with doctors, nurses, and essential medicines have been deployed, along with mobile toilets, drinking water stations, and shelter sheds for pilgrims.

In anticipation of possible rainfall, dedicated teams have been assigned to handle waterlogging and ensure uninterrupted movement and stay for the Warkaris.
