Bacchu Kadu Fifth Day of Hunger Strike, Supporters Intensify Agitation
The indefinite hunger strike led by Prahar Sanghatana President Bacchu Kadu has entered its fifth day, with no resolution yet in sight. Kadu is protesting to demand action on 17 key issues, including a complete loan waiver for farmers, and has vowed to continue his fast until the government responds.
The protest is ongoing at Gurukunj Mozari in Amravati, where Bacchu Kadu’s health has significantly deteriorated due to prolonged fasting. Medical professionals have advised him to take medication and undergo treatment, but he has refused all medical aid, determined to continue his protest.
In a dramatic escalation, Prahar Sanghatana activists have staged aggressive demonstrations in support of Kadu. In a symbolic act of protest, some activists performed a half-body burial, burying themselves waist-deep in the ground with ropes around their necks, demanding urgent attention from the authorities.
The activists allege that the government is ignoring Bacchu Kadu’s demands, and warn that they will not retreat until all 17 demands are addressed. Their message is clear: the protest will continue and intensify if the government remains unresponsive.
This bold and emotive display has drawn attention across the state and is putting increasing pressure on the administration to act. As support for Kadu's movement spreads across various regions, more demonstrations are expected in solidarity.
The situation continues to unfold, and all eyes are now on how the government will respond to the intensifying agitation and deteriorating health of the protest leader.
