Torrential pre-monsoon rains continue to lash Maharashtra, with several regions facing agricultural damage and infrastructure collapse. The Baramati region has been particularly affected, as heavy rainfall has led to the bursting of the Nira Dawa Canal

The city of Baramati and its surrounding areas have been inundated since morning, with the relentless rainfall overwhelming local infrastructure. The Nira Dawa Canal in Baramati taluka burst due to the high pressure of flowing water, leading to severe flooding in nearby fields and water entering residential areas, causing distress to local communities.

In a related incident, three buildings in Baramati collapsed, further compounding the crisis. Emergency response teams have been deployed, and rescue operations are underway to ensure the safety of residents.

Taking cognizance of the situation, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar visited the affected areas to inspect the damage firsthand. He interacted with local citizens, assured them of government support, and directed officials to take immediate relief measures.

The India Meteorological Department has forecasted continued heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of the state today, urging residents to remain alert and follow safety advisories. Local authorities have appealed to citizens to stay indoors and report any emergencies to municipal services.
