Battis Shirala live snakes seen on the occasion of Naga Panchami
The world-famous Nagpanchami in Battis Shirala, Sangli district, is renowned for the worship of live snakes. On the occasion of Nagpanchami, a large number of tourists and devotees visit here. Due to the court's order not to worship live snakes, symbolic snake worship has been conducted here for the past few days.
Nag Panchami in Sangli's 32 Shirala is being celebrated with more enthusiasm this year. The permission received from the central government on the eve of Nag Panchami has brought joy to the people of Shirala. Now, live snakes will be seen in Batis Shirala. The Supreme Court had imposed a ban on the worship of live snakes.
For the past 23 years, Nag Panchami has been celebrated in Batis Shirala by worshiping symbolic snakes. However, according to the decision given by the court, this year the people of Shirala will be able to see live snakes on Nag Panchami.
It is reported that 21 Shiralkars have been granted permission to catch snakes with the aim of promoting traditional education and snake conservation. As a result, the Shiralkars have welcomed this decision by the central government, and this year, live snakes will also be seen during the celebration of Nag Panchami.
