Harbour AC Local: Big relief for Mumbaikars; Commencement of regular journey on Harbour Line, how many AC local trains will be available per day?
Scroll down to read the news in brief...
Good news for millions of commuters traveling between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai daily. The Central Railway has decided to resume the air-conditioned (AC) local service on the Harbor line, which was closed for some time, and this service will be operational from tomorrow, Monday, January 26. This decision will make the Navi Mumbai-Mumbai commute more comfortable and pleasant. The Central Railway has announced the official schedule for the AC local, and initially, 14 trips will be operated daily.
AC locals will run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Panvel on the Harbor route, and these trains will replace some currently running non-air-conditioned locals. Passengers will be able to experience coolness in the backdrop of summer. Central Railway officials said that there was a constant demand for AC locals from passengers on the Harbor line. This decision was made considering the increasing demand. Currently, about 80 AC services are running on the main line (Kalyan route), and now with 14 new services starting on the Harbor route, the total number will increase.
According to the announced schedule, AC locals will be available from early morning to late night between major stations like Vashi, Wadala Road, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and Panvel. This will greatly benefit commuters going to work in the morning and returning home in the evening. The availability of the AC option even during peak hours will make travel more comfortable.
Commuters, office workers, and students in Navi Mumbai are welcoming this decision. They believe it will save time, provide comfort, and offer relief from the heat. If the AC locals receive a good response, there is a possibility of increasing the number of trips in the future. Overall, this decision by Central Railway has brought back comfort to train travel on the Harbor line, making the Mumbai-Navi Mumbai connection smoother.
