Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s Audio Clip Surfaces: “Break Congress, Empty Congress”

Break Congress: Chandrashekhar Bawankule's audio clip reveals BJP's strategy.

A political storm is brewing after a controversial audio clip of BJP Maharashtra President Chandrashekhar Bawankule surfaced, in which he can be heard instructing party workers to "break the Congress and empty the Congress." The clip, reportedly recorded during a meeting with BJP office bearers in Pune, is now in possession of Lokshahi Marathi.

The remarks have sparked speculation about the BJP’s next political target, following similar developments involving Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in recent years.

“Breaking the Congress Will Bring Financial Gain” – Bawankule

In the audio clip, Bawankule is heard encouraging BJP karyakartas to weaken the Congress from within, stating that party workers no longer have any faith in the Congress leadership. He goes on to make a controversial claim about financial benefits tied to dismantling the opposition party.

"The more you bring down the Congress party, the more you gain financially. You have Devendra Fadnavis, I have him, Murali is sitting. The BJP always puts its workers first," Bawankule reportedly says in the clip.

Strategic Targeting of Opposition Parties?

The comments have triggered intense political discussions across Maharashtra, with many interpreting them as a strategic campaign by the BJP to destabilize the remaining opposition forces in the state, especially after high-profile defections from Shiv Sena and the NCP.

Political analysts believe this could indicate a wider organizational plan to neutralize the Congress’s influence ahead of upcoming elections.

No Official Response Yet

As of now, Chandrashekhar Bawankule has not issued any public clarification or denial regarding the leaked audio. The BJP's central leadership has also remained silent. Meanwhile, leaders from the Congress party are expected to respond sharply to what they are likely to term as a “blatant attempt to destroy democratic opposition.”
