Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Accident: Tempo Carrying Sugarcane Workers Overturns, Two Dead and 10 Injured
A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Yasgaon area of Khultabad taluka, where a tempo carrying sugarcane-cutting laborers overturned, resulting in the death of two workers and injuries to ten others.
According to preliminary reports, the accident took place when the tempo driver suddenly applied the brakes in an attempt to avoid colliding with a two-wheeler. The sudden braking caused the speeding vehicle to lose balance and overturn, leading to a fatal outcome for two laborers, who died on the spot.
Among the ten injured, several are reported to be in critical condition and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. Emergency responders and local residents rushed to the scene soon after the incident. Personnel from the Khultabad Police Station also reached the site promptly to assist with rescue efforts.
The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial findings suggest negligence and overloading could be contributing factors, though further inquiry is underway.
The accident has sparked concern over the safety and working conditions of seasonal sugarcane laborers, who are often transported in overcrowded and poorly maintained vehicles. Local authorities are expected to review safety protocols and transportation arrangements for such workers in light of this incident.
