Damini App: Now you will get advance warning of lightning strikes on 'Damini App'
(Damini App) The number of deaths due to lightning strikes during the monsoon season is increasing day by day. Looking at the statistics of the last ten years, many people have died due to lightning strikes. As a solution to this, the 'Damini App' has been developed by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, and an advance warning can be received 21 to 30 minutes in advance.
With the help of this app, citizens get an alert if there is a possibility of lightning strike within a 300-kilometer radius. The app provides accurate information based on the user's GPS location. Notably, information about the possible location of lightning strike is provided 14 minutes in advance and 7 minutes in high-risk areas, thus giving citizens time to move to a safe place and avoid possible loss of life.

This app provides instructions such as not to stand under trees, not to stand on high places or under rocks, not to touch metal objects during a lightning strike. It also provides guidance on what first aid to give to someone who has been struck by lightning.
The state government has directed all the officers of the revenue department, as well as Talathi, Gram Sevak, Krishi Sevak, Asha Worker, Anganwadi Sevika, Arogya Sevak, Police Patil, Sarpanch, Kotwal, Data Entry Operator to download and use this app. It has been appealed to all the agencies at the taluka level to take advantage of this app and provide information to the citizens regarding safety.
