Ambadas Danve Criticizes Government Over 'Ladki Bahini Yojana': "No Funds, No Planning, Just Loot"
Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, has launched a sharp attack on the state government over the implementation of the Ladki Bahini Yojana. He criticized the scheme as being announced without any allocated funding or long-term planning.
“This scheme was announced when there were no funds available for it, and even now, the government has no concrete year-long plan for its execution,” Danve said. “Every month, funds are diverted from different accounts just to keep the scheme going.”
Danve expressed support for the scheme in principle, saying, “The Ladki Bahini Yojana should continue. Women should indeed receive ₹2,100 per month, but the government must first create a sustainable source of income to support it.”
He went on to accuse the government of mismanaging state finances and alleged that it is "looting" various departments to fund the scheme. “Funds meant for the Social Justice Department and the Tribal Welfare Department have been grabbed. This is not just poor governance—it’s an injustice to our tribal brothers,” Danve asserted.
His comments have added fuel to the ongoing political debate around the feasibility and funding of the Ladki Bahini Yojana, a flagship welfare initiative aimed at supporting women in the state.
