(Anti-Narcotics Task Force) The government has decided to establish an Anti-Narcotics Task Force to control the growing drug racket in the state. The Home Department has approved 22 crore 36 lakh rupees for this initiative.
The issue of drug sales and consumption was highlighted during the monsoon session of the legislature. Members drew serious attention to this problem. According to the statistics presented in the house, there has been a staggering 481% increase in drug sales over the past year. A few months ago, during a special campaign that lasted 30 days, drugs worth approximately 140 crore 20 lakh rupees were seized. As a result, the demand for government action has intensified.
In response to this discussion, Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the establishment of a separate task force. This announcement has now been implemented. In this force, 346 new positions will be created.
This will include Deputy Inspector General of Police, Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent, Inspector, Assistant Inspector, Sub-Inspector, Constable, and Driver. Appointing trained personnel at various levels will speed up the action. It is expected that this decision by the government will curb the sale of narcotics and help save the young generation from these dangerous tendencies.
