The state government has once again extended the term of the committee appointed to examine the Maratha reservation issue. The committee's tenure, which was previously extended until June 30, 2025, has now been prolonged by another six months—till December 31, 2025.

This extension signals the government's continued deliberation over the complex legal and social aspects surrounding the Maratha community’s demand for reservation in education and government jobs.

The extension comes at a time when activist Manoj Jarange Patil has resumed his agitation in support of Maratha reservation. Patil, who has been a prominent voice in the movement, has once again taken to protest, pressing the government for a time-bound and permanent resolution.

With growing public sentiment and mounting pressure from activist groups, the extended tenure of the committee is expected to provide additional time to gather data, address legal challenges, and frame a viable policy solution. However, critics argue that repeated extensions may delay the resolution process further.
