The Tata Mumbai Marathon, consistently organized for over two decades, is entering its 21st year. This globally recognized event will take place on January 18, featuring highly skilled runners in both the men's and women's categories.

The personal best times of the eight male and six female runners participating in this year's race are faster than the current competition records. Therefore, there is a strong possibility of new records being set this year. The current competition records in the men's and women's categories are held by Ethiopia's Hayle Lemi Berhanu and Ankyalem Haymanot. The Tata Mumbai Marathon is a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race. The top three winners in both categories will receive prizes of 50,000, 25,000, and 15,000 US dollars respectively, and runners breaking the competition record will receive an additional prize of 15,000 US dollars.

In the men's category, Eritrea's Merhawi Kesete is a leading contender, with Uganda's world champion Victor Kiplangat, South Africa's Stephen Mokoka, and Ethiopia's Bazezev Asmare and Tadu Abate Deme also competing for top positions.

In the women's category, last year's third-place finisher Medina Deme Armino is prepared to perform well this year. Along with her, fast runners like Zinah Senbeta, Yeshi Chekole, and Shure Demise will make the women's competition more intense.

“Considering the caliber of runners participating in this year's Tata Mumbai Marathon, it appears that the competition is becoming stronger on a global level,” said Vivek Singh, Joint Managing Director of Procam International.
