Bacchu Kadu’s Hunger Strike Enters Fourth Day; Health Deteriorates, Refuses Treatment
The hunger strike launched by independent MLA Bacchu Kadu entered its fourth day today, with his health showing signs of significant decline. Despite medical advice, Kadu has refused to undergo treatment, intensifying concern among his supporters and political observers.
Kadu is staging his indefinite hunger strike at Gurukunj Mozari in Amravati district, pressing for a set of 17 demands, most notably a complete farm loan waiver for Maharashtra's indebted farmers. His protest has garnered attention across the state, not just for its bold stance, but also due to the deteriorating state of his health.
Medical professionals attending to Kadu have reportedly urged him to begin medication and accept treatment, but the legislator has categorically refused, remaining steadfast in his protest.
In a significant show of solidarity, activist Manoj Jarange Patil is expected to visit the protest site today to express support. Additionally, multiple political parties and farmers’ organizations have extended their backing to Kadu’s movement.
The growing support from various political and social groups has amplified pressure on the state government to respond to Kadu’s demands. However, there has been no official reaction so far from state authorities regarding the issues raised in his agitation.
