There has been a fierce change in the weather in Maharashtra over the past few days. The severe cold has gripped the state, and the impact of cold waves is increasing in the northern regions. The massive air pollution has become dangerous for the health of citizens, and this issue has caught the attention of the court. The court has strongly reprimanded the state government and local self-governing bodies.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department's forecast, the entire month of December will remain cold. The lowest single-digit temperature in the last ten years has been recorded, and Pune has broken the record of the last ten years with shivering cold. In 23 days of December, single-digit temperatures were recorded for 13 days, which is a record since 2014. Along with the cold, the chill is also intense. In Mumbai, the cold is felt in the morning, and in some parts of the state, the mercury has dropped to 6 degrees. It has been warned that this wave will continue in January as well.
In Niphad, Dhule, the lowest temperature in the state was recorded at 5.8 degrees. In Parbhani, it was 7.5 degrees, while in Nashik, Jalgaon, Nagpur, and Bhandara, it was recorded at 10 degrees. The chill will not be felt in the coming days. Air pollution in Mumbai-Pune has made the air hazardous, increasing health problems.
While the state is shivering in the cold, there is a rain warning in other parts of the country. A heavy rain alert has been issued from December 24 to 27, and heavy rain will occur in Himachal Pradesh in the next 24 hours. There is also a possibility of rain in Jammu-Kashmir, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, Andaman, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Even though months have passed since the monsoon ended, the rain has made its presence felt.
